We are excited to welcome all returning and new members to Team 1646 - Precision Guessworks. We are having a callout on Thursday, September 9th (this week!) during all four Jefferson High School lunches to spread the word.
This week, we have four members working on our competition robot, replacing the inner wheel mounts with thicker, more durable metal that will not bend as easily. We have several other members working on designing and building a cart for the robot to transport it from the pit to the playing field. We also have a member working on a brochure in order to try to get new sponsors. We have two members working on updating the website. All the preparations are for our upcoming competition: the Cage match, which is scheduled on Saturday, October 16th at Southport High School.
The Cage match is a practice match, similiar to the IRI competition, but smaller in scale. It provides an opportunity for new members to get a feel for FIRST competitions, and for more experienced members to gain valuable experience. The Cage match is sponsored by the Southport Cybercards (1529) and the Warren Digital Goats (829). For more information, visit the Cage match website.
We would like to congradulate Matt Alterpeter, a former Team 1646 member and Jefferson High School 2010 graduate, as he was awarded a $10,000 FIRST scholarship to Purdue University. It is our goal to get another senior team member a scholarship at his or her choice to any college.
During the pre-season, all updates are posted here. During the build season there will be weekly reports accessible from this page. |
