Precision Guessworks is off to Atlanta this week with our sister Teams the Westside Boiler Invasion(461) and HBR (1747) for the FIRST Robotics World Championship. We will be competing with 461 on the Archimedes field starting on the 17th; 1747 is on Curie. The web cast to watch us compete is posted in the left hand column and it will 'go live' as matches start on the 17th.
We would like to extend our thanks to the parents and mentors who made this season one of our best yet.

Team 1646 competed in the Boilermaker Regional March 13th - 15th. We played competitively and ended up being drafted by the number 5 seed consisting of teams 1741 and 2171. The team advanced to the semi-finals only to be beaten by the alliance that went on the win the entire regional. Our team was also recognized as the best racer robot by team 1501, THRUST. We now look to compete in our second regional in Michigan on March 27th, 28th, and 29th. Pictures from the Boilermaker Regional are up on our photos page. |

Yesterday, we traveled to Kokomo, IN, to visit the shop of Team 45 - the Technokats. The plan was to join 1747, 1760, 292 and 45 there to practice on a regulation sized field. 1747 did not have a working robot at the time and ended up not going. After a rocky start we were able to caravan over and were in the shop a little after 4:30. After correcting a few problems, and feeling rather insignificant compared to the other teams, we were able to get on the field and test a couple drivers. We are confident that we have found both our driver and operator after one practice day.
Early on, we experienced a traumatic blow, we ended up sheering a crucial bolt, but not until after we had made many perfect runs. After repairing the bolt, we made a few less productive rounds and ended up doing the exact thing again. We called it a night and decided to work on it today before our open house. |
