As week four of build season comes to an end, Team 1646 has met many of the goals it had created. Programming Team After the programming team finished fixing the camera, they started to work on the controls. Now they are in the process of designing the controls and deciding on the components that will be incorporated. Their only delay is waiting for a finished robot to start programming Hanging Team The hanging team has come up with a very successful arm mechanism. The design incorporates a pulley that will raise the arm, and a karabiner that will hold the robot to the tower. The team is waiting on a wheel that will be put into the arm. This wheel will be placed to facilitate the movement of the arm and a guide for the wire to be used. Aside form the wheel, the team is waiting for an A-frame, which supports the arm. Pneumatics Team / Kicking Mechanism This team has a working kicking mechanism. The small problems they had with the pneumatic on past weeks seem to have been fixed. The process was slow, but finally done. They have also drawn all the parts of the kicking mechanism on Cad and are ready to start making the parts out of aluminum. Currently they are working on a backup kicker in case the one in use breaks or malfunctions during a competition CAD Team The chassis has been completed and now the team is waiting for it to arrive. The team expects the chassis to arrive on Friday 5, 2010. The CAD team has also finished drawing all the parts of the robot, and once the chassis arrives they will be able to assemble the robot. They plan that by the end of week five they will have the chassis assembled and ready to drive. Public Relations The public relations team is still working on creating the design for the t-shirts. The team has picked one design, but is working with it to make it have the team’s colors. The team has been selling to candy to raise money to pay for the t-shirts. The team is also working on updating the website and finding opportunities for Team 1646 to volunteer. |
